The Department of Social Work at Dr N.G.P. Arts and Science College, through its SARVAM Association, secured first place in the skit competition held as part of the World Tourism Week celebrations at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial, Coimbatore, recently.
The winning skit, titled “Swadeshi Bazaar,” highlighted the values of local entrepreneurship, cultural heritage, and sustainable consumerism. Performed by first-year MSW students, the presentation emphasised the importance of promoting indigenous products, empowering local artisans, and fostering community-driven tourism.
Beyond showcasing theatrical talent, the performance carried a strong social message—calling for the revival of traditional crafts and greater support for local markets in an age of global consumerism.
