Department of Biomedical Engineering at Dr. NGP Institute of Technology, in association with KMCH, jointly organised a National Workshop titled “MEDZEST’26 – A Forum for Hands-on Training and Quality Control of Medical Equipment” recently.

The workshop was formally inaugurated by Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami, Chairman and Managing Director, KMCH, who delivered the presidential address, emphasising the importance of quality assurance and safety standards in modern healthcare technology.

Dr. Thavamani D. Palaniswami, Secretary, Dr. NGP Educational Institutions, delivered the felicitation address and highlighted the institution’s commitment to industry-integrated learning.

Dr. Arun N. Palaniswami and Mathura V. Palaniswami, Trustees, Dr. NGP Research and Educational Trust, graced the occasion and encouraged students to focus on innovation and ethical practices in biomedical engineering.

Buvaneswaran, Chief Executive Officer of the Trust, extended his support for collaborative initiatives between academia and healthcare institutions. Muthuswamy, Director Academics, felicitated and insisted on the importance of regulatory measures, calibration of medical equipment, and not compromising the patients Comfort.

Prabha, Principal of the college, felicitated and reiterated the institution’s vision of producing industry-ready biomedical engineers.

Praveen Chakkravarthy, Head of the Department, welcomed the gathering and outlined the objectives of the workshop, and Maunika, a student of Biomedical Engineering, delivered the Vote of Thanks.

Leading medical equipment industries, including BPL Medical Technologies, Olympus Corporation, Getinge and Philips, actively participated in the programme and provided technical expertise and live demonstrations.

More than 120 students from engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu attended the programme.

The workshop served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, skill development, and strengthening academia–hospital collaboration in the field of biomedical engineering. During the valedictory function, certificates were distributed to the participants.
