To facilitate better road connectivity among Coimbatore, Karur and Trichy and to reduce travelling time from Western TN to the Central side of the state, a new greenfield highway project has been proposed.
The National Highway Authority of India has floated tenders to appoint a consultant who can prepare the Detailed Project Report for this proposed highway and a northern bypass for Trichy as well.
The new 4-lane greenfield highway is expected to have a total length of 230 kms. connecting Coimbatore with the 3 regions. Once a consultancy firm is finalized, it will prepare the DPR, traffic studies, feasibility studies, environmental assessment, total engineering design related works and the project estimate also.
It will also work on preparing the above for the northern bypass around Trichy. This project is likely to reduce the traffic congestion in Trichy city.
