Nehru Group of Institutions (NGI) has been instituting the P. K. Das Memorial Best Faculty Award & Life Time Achievement Award since 2009 remembering the birth date of the Founder Chairman Late P. K. Das, in line with it, Nehru Group of Institutions conducted the 16th award ceremony, recently.

Anirudhan, Principal, Nehru Arts and Science College (NASC), delivered the welcome address and congratulated the winners for their efforts in achieving academic excellence.

The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Chockalingam, Former Vice Chancellor Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli & Professor Emeritus in Victimology, R. V. University, Bangalore.

Adv. Krishnadas, Honorary Trade Commissioner of Mauritius, India, Chairman & Managing Trustee of Nehru Group of Institutions; Krishnakumar, CEO Secretary of the institutions; Nagaraja, Executive Director, Academics and Administration of the institutions; award winners were present.

Krishnadas presided over the Function and congratulated the winners and urged the spectators to embrace the same determination to achieve similar success in the future.

He emphasized that the growth of this esteemed institution is rooted in the vision of its beloved Founder Chairman, the late P. K. Das. He affirmed that maintaining the quality of NGI rests in the hands of its faculty members and stakeholders.

Additionally, he highlighted the importance of the National Education Policy (NEP) and the pivotal role of academicians in its implementation.

Chockalingam, in his address, highlighted the importance of defining a clear purpose and scope while urging improvements in the quality of education. He lauded the visionary efforts of the Founder Chairman, the late P.K. Das, whose determination led to the establishment of educational institutions during challenging times.

He emphasized that teaching is a noble profession, as teachers play a pivotal role in transforming ideas into action. He also underscored the significance of academic research and interdisciplinary studies, asserting that India possesses all necessary resources and should strive for self-reliance rather than depend on other nations.

Addressing a key issue, he pointed out that India often overlooks the importance of accountability in thoughts and ideas. In contrast, he noted, faculties in foreign countries work diligently to maintain consistency and excellence in their fields. He urged Indian educators to enhance their skills to meet the evolving demands of the global academic and professional landscape.

Krishnakumar felicitated the award winners for being an embodiment of excellence, dedication and passion in teaching. He further added that through their innovative methods, unwavering patience and relentless pursuit of knowledge they have instilled confidence and a love for learning in students.

He also insisted teachers utilize the resources available and equip themselves to teach the upcoming generation.

Nagaraja felicitated the award winners and expressed his delight in being a part of it. He narrated his experience as a successful academician and motivated everyone to be sincere in what they do to be academically successful.

18 academicians were honoured with the Best Faculty Award, Certificate of Excellence and Cash award of 10,000 each. 3 academicians were honoured with Lift Time Achievement Award, Certificate of Excellence and Cash award of 25,000 each.
