Nehru Group of Educational Institutions, in association with the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, today inaugurated a statue depicting the special features of Coimbatore at the traffic island opposite the entrance to the court complex.
The Coimbatore District Administration and the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation are undertaking several initiatives to beautify important parts of the city under the Smart City Project. Major junctions, lakes, and roads in Coimbatore are being renovated and improved with the support of private contributions.
As part of this initiative, the Nehru Group of Educational Institutions inaugurated the statue.

The statue was inaugurated by Pavan Kumar Giriyappanavar, District Collector of Coimbatore, in the presence of Sivaguru Prabhakaran, Commissioner of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation; Krishnakumar, CEO and Secretary; Muralidharan, Director; and other heads of the Nehru Group of Educational Institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishnakumar stated that the statue has been designed to symbolize the major textile mills, industries, educational institutions, and hospitals that have earned Coimbatore the title “Manchester of South India.”
He added that the institution had installed the statue as a mark of pride for the city of Coimbatore.
The event was also attended by principals and professors from the Nehru Group of Educational Institutions, as well as executives from the Chennai-based Black Ship Media Company, including Mahaprabhu and Sathishkumar, along with several others.
