The National Model Group of Schools hosted a special programme on 11th August 2025 to commemorate World Elephant Day, observed globally on 12th August.

Over 700 students participated in the event titled “Elephant Conservation – Mass Awareness Campaigning,” which focused on the theme: “End encroachment on wild land to avoid elephant–human conflict.”

The programme was graced by Naaz Rizvi, Director, National Museum of Natural History, and Magesh, Scientist at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. Both speakers delivered insightful talks on the challenges faced by elephants and emphasised the need for sustainable coexistence.

A key highlight of the event was a pledge taken by the students to protect wildlife and conserve nature, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding elephants and their natural habitats.
