The Department of Apparel and Fashion Design at PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, organised the National Conference on Disruptive Technologies in Fashion (NCDTF 2026) on January 30 and 31, 2026.
The conference brought together academicians, industry experts, researchers, and students to discuss emerging technologies shaping the future of the fashion and textile industry.

The inaugural session featured addresses by Chief Guest T. K. Chandiran, Chairman of SCM Group – The Chennai Silks and Sree Kumaran Thangamaligai, and Guest of Honour Ganesh Subramanian, Founder and CEO of Stylumia, Bengaluru.
They highlighted the growing importance of data intelligence, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation in the fashion ecosystem.

Prakasan, Principal of PSG College of Technology, delivered the presidential address, and the Book of Abstracts and Souvenir was released during the inauguration.
The conference included three keynote sessions and seven invited talks by experts from industry and academia.
Keynote sessions focused on AI in the fashion value chain, smart and sustainable textile technologies, and the future of fashion intelligence. Speakers represented organisations such as Stylumia, Streamoid AI Labs, Estee Exports India, Eastern Global Clothing, VisioNxt (NIFT Chennai), Fynd, and Techno Sportswear.

Paper presentation sessions were conducted across three technical tracks, covering topics such as AI in fashion, sustainable materials, smart textiles, digital retailing, and technology-driven design innovation.
As part of the event, the department also organised a students’ product exhibition titled “Artisoul,” showcasing the creativity and technical skills of students from the five-year integrated M.Sc. Fashion Design and Merchandising programme.
