India’s electric two-wheeler (E2W) market is undergoing rapid growth, driven by rising fuel prices, government incentives, and increasing environmental awareness. In line with this, Ozotec, an innovation-driven company based in Coimbatore, launched four new ranges of advanced electric vehicles at KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology on March 27, 2025.
The four electric vehicles were launched by Mylswamy Annadurai, Scientist and Former Director of ISRO, in the presence of Barathan Kuppuswamy, Founder and CEO of Ozotec Automobiles Private Limited, and K P Ramasamy, Founder and Chairman of KPR Group.
Mylswamy Annadurai, while addressing the gathering, said that earlier, there was a fear among people that electric vehicles might catch fire. However, Ozotec has addressed this concern by ensuring safety in seven stages. He mentioned that, on a global level, more electric vehicles are being used in India, and he hoped that Coimbatore would be at the forefront in adopting EVs.
He emphasized that if India is to achieve the goal of a carbon-free India by 2030, electric vehicles must be used to their full capacity. Furthermore, he stated that electric vehicles are environmentally safe, affordable, offer quick recharging, and are powered by artificial intelligence technology.
He also mentioned that collaboration between academia and industry is crucial for India to emerge as a leader in science and technology.
Barathan Kuppuswamy, in his address, said that Mylswamy Annadurai is the person who encouraged and motivated them to bring this electric vehicle to life. He noted that launching it in an educational institution is meant to motivate students to invent new technologies. He also emphasized that for a better future, collaboration between industry and academia is essential.
He further mentioned that by switching to EVs, we can save 2,32,000 liters of fuel and reduce 5,35,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions annually. Additionally, he highlighted that electric vehicles are convenient to use, cost-effective, and pollution-free.
The new launch includes two variants of its flagship models, “Bheem” and “Flio.” In the Bheem model, ‘Bheem Lite’ was introduced, while the Flio model saw the launch of ‘Flio Max,’ ‘Flio Neo,’ and ‘Flio Ultra.’
The Bheem model is designed for heavy-duty applications which has capacity to carry 290 kgs, while the other three new scooter variants of Flio are tailored for personal and family use.
