The Department of Visual Communication (E–Media & VFX) at Rathinam College of Arts and Science, in collaboration with Air Media Broadcasting, recently organised an international seminar on “AI-Powered Radio Jockeys: The Future of Radio Broadcasting” at the college.
The seminar aimed to explore the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in radio broadcasting, focusing on how AI-powered radio jockeys are reshaping content creation, audience engagement, and the future landscape of the radio industry.
A student from the department delivered the welcome address, followed by the presidential address by Srinivasan, IQAC Coordinator, who highlighted the importance of integrating emerging technologies like AI into media education.
This was followed by the felicitation address by Sabareesh, Dean – Research & Development, who emphasised innovation and industry collaboration as key drivers for academic growth.
The highlight of the seminar was the keynote session delivered by Vijayakumar, Broadcast Consultant, Media Entrepreneur, and CEO & Managing Director of Air Media Broadcasting. He provided valuable insights into the evolution of radio and the growing significance of AI in broadcasting.
The technical session was handled by Jaisakthivel from the Department of Journalism and Communication, University of Madras, Chennai, who elaborated on contemporary communication trends and AI integration in media practices.
An engaging online industry expert talk was delivered by Pon Kogilam, Senior Broadcaster and Minnal FM Radio Announcer from Malaysia, who shared her international broadcasting experience and perspectives on AI-driven radio.
The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to engage directly with the experts and clarify their queries.
The event was graced by Balasubramanian, Principal, Suresh, Vice Principal, and Mahendiran, Station Head of Rathinavani Community Radio 90.8.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by a Viscom-VFX student.
The seminar served as a valuable platform for students, academicians, and media professionals to gain insights into the future of radio broadcasting in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
