Chairman of Apparel Export Promotion Council, A.Sakthivel led a delegation that included representatives from various textile associations to meet Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada on Wednesday.

An official press release from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that Industry representatives conveyed their deep gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Commerce & Industry for the decisive leadership that enabled the successful conclusion of recent trade agreements with the United Kingdom, European Union and the United States of America.

The delegation included representative from Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC); Southern India Mills Association (SIMA), Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) besides others.

“Piyush Goyal appealed to all the stakeholders in the textile and apparel sector to effectively leverage the opportunities arising from these FTAs and ensure its effective use across the industry,” A.Sakthivel shared on his FB handle.

He further told that Mr.Goyal had informed that India is expected to sign the agreement with the USA shortly and confirmed that benefits similar to one extended to the textile Industry of Bangladesh would most likely be extended to India as well.
