After a month-long break, the Indian Racing Festival, promoted by Racing Promotions Pvt Ltd, resumes on Friday, October 18, at the Kari Motor Speedway, Chettipalayam, Coimbatore.
This racing has undergone upgrades to host the powerful World Thunder GB08 Indian Racing League (IRL) cars. Alongside the IRL, the prestigious 27th JK Tyre-FMSCI National Racing Championship (JKNRC) will also be running, offering motorsport fans a weekend full of high-octane action.
The season has already delivered thrilling, wheel-to-wheel battles across all six city-based franchise teams, with each team experiencing their share of victories and setbacks. As the competition enters this penultimate round, the battle for points intensifies. The challenging Kari Motor Speedway, known for its twisty layout, is set to test the drivers’ skills with little margin for error, especially with the forecasted rain over the weekend. Pole position will be critical as overtaking opportunities are limited on this technical circuit.
Leading the IRL team championship are the Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers, represented by Alistair Yoong (Malaysia), Fabienne Wohlwend (Liechtenstein), and Indians Ruhaan Alva and Nikhil Bohra, who have consistently performed and amassed 155 points. Close behind are Goa Aces JA Racing (133 points) and Chennai Turbo Racers (101 points), who staged a brilliant comeback in Round 3. The rankings are rounded out by Speed Demons Delhi (79), Bangalore Speedsters (77), and Hyderabad Black Birds (49).
The JK Tyre-FMSCI National Racing Championship (JKNRC) will run concurrently with the IRL, providing additional excitement as the LGB Formula 4 category sees Bengaluru’s Tijil Rao (Dark Don Racing) lead the standings with 49 points. His impressive consistency has kept him ahead of teammates Bala Prasath and Chetan Surineni, who are battling it out for the remaining podium spots.
The 2024 Indian Racing Festival, presented by Kingfisher Soda, JK Tyres, Mobil 1, and Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Limited, also includes the FIA-certified Formula 4 Indian Championship, featuring a competitive grid of young, aspiring drivers from across the globe, and the Royal Enfield GT Cup.
