Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology students recently won Smart India Hackathon 2024, a national-level competition, with Ecovertex and Lahurians Rescuers Teams.
The Smart India Hackathon (SIH) was organized annually by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, for the past eight years, has been a pioneering initiative aimed at nurturing a culture of innovation among students.
The hackathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from leading organizations and showcased exceptional solutions to challenges in domains like energy, disaster management, healthcare, and sustainability.
Two student teams from the Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology achieved remarkable milestones in this prestigious event, securing ₹1 lakh in cash prizes each and earning widespread recognition for their groundbreaking projects.
Innovative Projects and Achievements
- Lahurians Rescuers Team
The Lahurians Rescuers team, led by Maha Gayathri, earned accolades for their life-saving innovation under a problem statement provided by the Ministry of Disaster Management. Their project, designed to rescue children trapped in borewells, addressed a critical humanitarian challenge with ingenuity and practicality.
This innovative solution not only demonstrated technological expertise but also highlighted the team’s dedication to solving real-world problems with creativity and engineering.
The team was expertly mentored by Ras Mathew, whose guidance was instrumental in their success.
- Ecovertex Team
The Ecovertex team, led by Padmapriya, excelled in the hackathon under a problem statement from the Ministry of Power. Their project stood out among 44 participating teams tackling six critical challenges in the energy sector.
The solution showcased their ability to create impactful and scalable innovations, further emphasizing their commitment to technological excellence. Under the mentorship of Ramalingam, the team’s performance was exemplary, earning them well-deserved recognition.
The achievements of these teams were celebrated by the Management, Principal, and faculty of Hindusthan College.
