The Department of Biotechnology of Hindusthan College of Arts and Science inaugurated the Biowarriors Association on 16th July 2025, marking a significant step in enriching the academic and extracurricular environment for biotechnology students.

This association comprises three integral wings – the Student Association, the Research Club, and the Eco Club – each aimed at fostering innovation, environmental consciousness, and active student participation.

The event commenced with an inaugural session, presided over by Ponnusamy, Principal & Patron, who delivered the Presidential Address, emphasising the department’s incredible growth and progress, successful completion of various workshops, seminars, and training programs, which equipped the students with knowledge and skills to excel in their future endeavours.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Nishu, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, and Examination Coordinator, School of Life Sciences, Ooty Campus, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, who served as the Chief Guest for the occasion.

Nishu highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary learning and applauded the initiative for integrating research and sustainability under one umbrella.

As a part of the investiture ceremony, the chief guest honoured the UG and PG student representatives of the association by presenting them with badges, symbolising their roles and responsibilities in steering the activities of the Student Association, Research Club, Eco Club, Mushroom and Vermicomposting Volunteers.

Following the formal inauguration, the event continued with an insightful Expert Lecture on the topic: “Finger Dermatoglyphics – An Overview and Their Changing Trends in Research.”

The session offered a detailed perspective on the scientific study of fingerprint patterns and their correlation with genetic and medical research. The speaker elaborated on the relevance of dermatoglyphics in biometrics, medical diagnostics, and forensic science, igniting curiosity and discussions among the participants.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and research scholars.

The Biowarriors Association is now set to function as a platform for students to engage in community-driven eco-initiatives, research advancements, and peer-led academic events throughout the academic year 2025–2026.
