Elgi Equipments Limited, one of the world’s leading air compressor manufacturers, held a press meet on December 20, 2025, at CODISSIA to discuss its 13-year association with the Coimbatore Marathon, which is scheduled to be held on December 21, 2025, in Coimbatore.

Anvar Jay Varadaraj, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Elgi Equipments Limited, and Ramesh Ponnuswami, Executive President – Operations and EBS, Elgi Equipments Limited, and Race Director of the Coimbatore Marathon, addressed the media. They also unveiled the marathon T-shirt along with the event team.

As the “Powered By” partner, ELGi supports one of the city’s most significant sporting and social impact events, which brings together over 25,000 runners, including more than 1,725 ELGi employees and their families.

Organised by the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation (CCF), the Coimbatore Marathon was conceived as a platform to raise awareness about cancer and to support patients and their families. Over the years, the marathon has grown into a landmark event in the region, becoming synonymous with cancer awareness and strong community participation.

Proceeds from the event have enabled CCF to expand its initiatives, including early detection and screening camps, counselling and follow-up care, palliative services, treatment support, and financial assistance for cancer patients covering surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, diagnostics, hospitalisation, and rehabilitation.

Speaking on ELGi’s continued association with the event, Anvar Jay Varadaraj said that ELGi was privileged to power the Coimbatore Marathon for the 13th consecutive year and to partner once again with the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation for a meaningful cause.

He noted that the participation of over 1,725 ELGi employees and their families reflects the organisation’s collective commitment to spreading cancer awareness and supporting care initiatives. He added that the marathon has become a strong unifying platform that brings together fitness, well-being, and social responsibility.

Ramesh Ponnuswami said that excellence at ELGi is built through strong systems, disciplined execution, and a deep commitment to people, principles that also guide the organisation of the Coimbatore Marathon. He said the event has received an overwhelming response this year, with over 25,000 participants and more than 1,500 volunteers coming together in the spirit of “Let’s Ko Kovai.” He added that the focus remains on delivering a safe, well-organised, and enriching experience by leveraging technology, best practices, and team expertise.

The event features a 21.1 km Half Marathon, 10 km Run, 5 km Timed Run, 5 km Walk, and a Corporate Relay. The course is supported by hydration points, medical teams, ambulances, timing systems, and a professionally managed finish area to ensure participant safety and comfort.

Over the past decade, ELGi’s partnership with the Coimbatore Marathon has played a key role in promoting a culture of fitness in the city while advancing awareness and action around cancer care. As the marathon continues to grow in scale and impact, ELGi reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that create lasting social value and healthier communities.
