Recently, everyone has been uploading their favourite Ghibli pictures on social media after OpenAI launched its advanced AI image generator, ‘Ghibli.’ People not only get their own pictures generated but also images of celebrities and political leaders, such as Narendra Modi and MK Stalin.
This viral trend raises moral, legal, and privacy concerns. Experts also warn that uploading photos to ChatGPT for Ghibli-style images could allow OpenAI to use the facial data, potentially bypassing legal safeguards and compromising your privacy.
Moreover, OpenAI’s privacy policy explicitly states that the company collects personal data input by users to train its models when users have not opted out.
Experts also warn that when personal images are uploaded to ChatGPT, facial data is exposed, and they warn that the photo could be misused, manipulated, or sold for targeted advertisements. Additionally, the data could end up on the dark web.
Notably, even when we ask ChatGPT whether it is safe to upload images for generating Ghibli-style pictures, it gives a cautionary message.
