A woman auto driver from Goundampalayam in Coimbatore, named Sangeetha (40), has brought pride to the city by receiving a letter from Rashtrapati Bhavan inviting her to the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.

The letter also extended an invitation to a tea reception with Droupadi Murmu, President of India, recognising her inspiring journey and achievements.

Sangeetha, who has been working as an auto driver for the past seven years, lives with her husband, a construction worker, and their two children.

After living in a rented house for nearly 20 years, she applied under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) scheme, implemented through the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board.

Under the scheme, she received a government subsidy of ₹2.10 lakh and availed a loan of ₹5 lakh from the Coimbatore District Cooperative Bank to construct her own house.

Her dedication to educating her two sons, building a home of her own despite a modest income, and effectively managing her finances earned her this special recognition.

This honour not only highlights Sangeetha’s perseverance and exemplary efforts but also serves as a source of inspiration to women across the country.

Her achievement is a proud moment for Coimbatore and reinforces the message of women empowerment, showing how determination, hard work, and prudent planning can transform lives.

The invitation to attend the Republic Day celebrations and the tea reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan is a testament to Sangeetha’s remarkable journey and a great boon to the women’s community, encouraging many to follow in her footsteps.
