The 5th edition of Parasports & Special Sports Meet was held at Hindusthan College of Arts and Science on 19th November 2025, as a part of the Coimbatore Vizha 2025.
It is a large event of the Vizha, held to facilitate a platform to differently-abled school children where they can showcase their talents, and also create an occasion for para-athletes to push their limits and excel.
Kezevino Aram, President of Shanti Ashram, took part in the event as Chief Guest. Deepa Mohanraj, Founder, Kaumaram Prashanthi Academy; Sarasuwathi Khannaiyan, Managing Trustee, Hindusthan Arts and Science College; Shanmugam, Chair – Coimbatore Vizha 2025; Neil Kikani, Chair, YI- Coimbatore; .Priya, Team Lead – Parasports and Special Sports Meet 2025 and other guests took part.
More than 350 special students and 150 para athletes from various districts like Tiruppur, Namakkal, Theni, Kanchipuram and other districts participated.
The competitions include volleyball, throw ball, running, cycling, shot put, and javelin throw for special athletes, along with para volleyball, para throw ball, wheelchair table tennis, blind chess, and field events for para-athletes representing different disability categories.
Sudhakar and Arul, Para-Volleyball players from Coimbatore who represented India at the International Para-volleyball event held in USA last month declared the sports meet open.
All participants receive certificates of appreciation while a total prize money of Rs.1 lakh+ will be shared among top, adult para sports-persons.
A special jersey, made for the event was also launched at the event.
