The Student Development Cell and Anti-Drug Club of Dr. NGP Institute of Technology recently organised a “3D Awareness Drive: Digital, Drug, and Defence (Self)” focusing on creating awareness among students about digital safety, drug abuse prevention and self-defence techniques.
Prabha, Principal of the institute, delivered the welcome address by highlighting the institution’s commitment to empowering students with safety awareness and life skills.
Suriyamoorthy, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crimes Against Women and Children Wing, presided as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering on the significance of early awareness in crime prevention.
Velmurugan, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Singanallur Range, discussed law enforcement initiatives for community safety.
Thiruvasagam, Sub-Inspector of Police, E2 Peelamedu Police Station, representing the Police Bro initiative, explained the features and benefits of the Kavalan SOS mobile app launched by the Tamil Nadu Police.
He demonstrated how the app enables users, especially women and vulnerable individuals, to instantly alert the police in emergencies, ensuring quick response and assistance.
Amirthavalli, Sub-Inspector of Police, Police Akka Initiative, emphasised the role of women officers in building trust with the community and guiding students to stay away from harmful influences.
The event concluded with all students taking a solemn pledge as part of the drug awareness initiative, vowing to remain drug-free and spread awareness among peers.
