G.D. Vishnuraam, an award-winning ultra-cyclist and marathon runner from Coimbatore, completed a 500 km cycling expedition to highlight women’s safety and promote awareness about cyber threats.

He covered the distance in 15 hours and 8 minutes, spreading awareness throughout the route. He began his expedition on December 6 from Dhanushkodi, Rameswaram, at 3.30 p.m., and completed it in Coimbatore the next day, December 7, at 8.30 a.m.

The expedition focused on themes such as “Stop Violence Against Women,” “Beware of Cyber Crimes,” and “Say No to Drugs.”

Speaking about the awareness ride, Vishnuraam said, “Our society is facing urgent challenges that demand immediate and collective action.

The recent, heart-wrenching incident in Coimbatore serves as a powerful call to us all. In response, I decided to undertake this 500-kilometre cycling journey from Dhanushkodi to Coimbatore to awaken public consciousness, advocate for stronger safety measures, and promote vital tools like the Kaaval Uthavi App, Women & Child Helpline, and also highlight the Pink Patrol system.”

In addition to addressing physical forms of violence, the initiative sought to combat the growing threat of cybercrime, emphasising digital safety, responsible online behaviour, and the protection of personal privacy—especially by urging individuals not to click on unknown or suspicious links and to remain vigilant against online fraud in an increasingly connected world.
