Coimbatore-based entrepreneur, independent filmmaker, and 2024 Lok Sabha election independent candidate from the Coimbatore Parliamentary constituency, Arunkanth, has officially launched Indiema.in, a revolutionary social media platform that prioritises creativity and genuine communication over follower counts and paid promotions.
Developed by Arunkanth’s company, Info Pluto Media Works, Indiema.in is the result of two and a half years of research. The platform introduces a “content-first” approach that shifts focus away from creator popularity and towards the quality of content. Its core philosophy is to showcase authentic ideas and information while eliminating the pressure to gain followers.

Speaking at a press meet, Arunkanth explained that Indiema.in operates on several unique principles that set it apart from traditional social platforms:
- No followers required: Users can view content without following the creator.
- Inherent connectivity: “Everyone is connected by default. There are no friend requests or follow buttons,” said Arunkanth.
- User-controlled feeds: Users can select the topics they want to see and apply “negative filters” to hide content they’re not interested in.
- No algorithmic hype: The platform does not push viral or trending content. Instead, it shows content to users who are most likely to appreciate it, ensuring a purposeful and meaningful browsing experience.
In a bold design move, content is shown before revealing the creator’s identity. This encourages users to engage with content based on its merit, not on the fame of its creator.
To maintain high standards, all posts must follow a structured format with a proper title and description, ensuring clarity and intent in every piece of content. Additionally, users can discover content based on geographic filters, from a single pincode to an entire state—making it a powerful tool for local community engagement.
- Content Expiry: All posts on Indiema.in have a maximum validity of 30 days, encouraging the regular sharing of fresh ideas and creations.
- No public comments: To reduce negativity and trolling, the platform disables public comments. Instead, users can express appreciation or share constructive criticism through their own posts, which link back to the original.
- No paid promotions: Visibility on Indiema.in is earned organically—not bought. The platform strictly prohibits paid promotions.
While content consumption on Indiema.in is completely free, creators are required to pay an annual subscription fee of ₹1,000 to post content.

One standout feature is the ease with which private networks can be created. With just a click, alumni associations, NGOs, and charitable organisations can set up professional private networks that include all the features mentioned above.
Indiema.in opens to new users on Wednesday (3rd September 2025) and is set to become a hub for artists, entrepreneurs, and anyone seeking a more meaningful and purpose-driven social media experience.
Reflecting on a larger national vision, Arunkanth shared, “During the 2025 Independence Day, Prime Minister Modi challenged the youth of our country to create a ‘desi’ social media platform. We had already been working on one for almost two years before that. Now, if our Prime Minister joins Indiema.in, it would give us a tremendous boost. We’re just curious whether he will.”
