Arsha Seva Kendram (ASK) organised a five-day spiritual camp titled “Self-Discovery While Being with Oneself – Ekaante Vedaanta” at Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Anaikatti, from 7 to 11 January 2026.

The camp began each day with Sri Dakshinamurthy Abhishekam. Group chanting was conducted as part of the daily rituals, creating an environment conducive to focus and reflection.

The retreat featured teachings by two instructors: Acharya Jayakumar guided participants through Bhartrhari’s Nitisatakam, providing insights into human conduct and practical application of values in daily life.

AKANATHA

Acharya Srinivasan conducted sessions on mastery over raga-dvesa, focusing on the Bhagavad Gita (Verse 3.34) and the concept of not succumbing to likes and dislikes, along with methods to manage conflicting thoughts.

Participants also received discourses from Swami Sadatmananda Saraswati and Swami Shankarananda Saraswati, which reinforced the spiritual framework of the camp. Daily yoga and meditation sessions were included to support concentration and assimilation of teachings.

AKANATHA 4

ASK runs a holistic development centre, Arsha Gokulam, for over 65 underprivileged high school and college students in Mysuru. During the retreat, three college students presented the range of seva activities undertaken by the organisation, including infrastructure improvement projects in rural government schools in Kovilpatti, such as benches and water filters. These initiatives have been positively impacting the school-going experience of children and have been featured in Tamil newspapers.

A performance of Tevaram and Tirumurai was conducted by Odhuvar Sri Sargurunathan during the retreat. He was honoured with the Arsha Seva Chudamani award in recognition of his contributions to preserving the Odhuvar tradition and sacred Tamil hymns.

AKANATHA 2 scaled

Meals were provided daily, and participants engaged in discussions during meal times to reflect on learnings and exchange insights.

The retreat concluded on 11 January 2026, providing participants with guidance on self-discovery and the principles of Ekaante Vedaanta.
