Umamaheshwari Yuvaraj, Director of Ananya’s Nana Nani Homes, was honoured with the Vocational Excellence Award by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore on 13th November 2025 at Nana Nani Phase 6, Thudiyalur.
She received the award in recognition of her pioneering service to senior citizens, rendered with compassion and care.
The award was presented by the event’s Chief Guest, Sekhar, Former Director General and Chief Controller (R&D), DRDO, and the Guest of Honour, Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman, Kumaraguru Educational Institutions.
The event was graced by Chitra Manohar, President of the Club; Bina, Secretary; and Balasubramaniyan, Director – Vocational Service.
Senior residents of Nana Nani Homes, Rotarians of the Club, and members from sister clubs were also present and felicitated Umamaheshwari on her achievement.

In her acceptance speech, Umamaheshwari said it was a great honour to receive the award from such a respected organisation. She accepted it with humility, adding that the recognition was a blessing from every resident of the home. “It is because of you, Amma and Appa,” she said, describing the residents as her greatest asset and their smiles as her true motivation. She thanked the Rotary for the award and dedicated it to the residents, saying, “This award is yours, Amma and Appa.”

A resident of the home addressed the gathering after felicitating Umamaheshwari, sharing that Uma cares for all of them like her own children and affectionately calling her “Uma Ma.” She added that Uma’s energy and commitment keep the residents active and lively even at their age.
Another resident, Jayaram, told the dignitaries that through her dedicated service, Umamaheshwari has “earned Amma and Appa” as invaluable assets in her life.

The Guest of Honour, Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, in his address, spoke about the significance of the award and shared insights about the Rotary, noting that millions of people worldwide are part of it across 160 countries. He added, “What I am today is because of Rotary.”
He then appreciated Umamaheshwari, highlighting her 15 years of dedicated service and noting that three more phases of the homes are yet to come. He lauded her vision and blessed her, expressing hope that she may one day receive the Padma Award from Rashtrapati Bhavan. He added, “Though I have presented thousands of awards, it is a great honour to present this one today.”
Vanavarayar concluded by sharing inspiring words from Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi with the elders present.
