Faculty of Computer Science, Dr.N.G.P. Arts and Science College (NGPASC) organised an AICTE- ATAL sponsored six-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the title ‘Design of Internet of Things (IoT) Solutions for Sustainable Environment’ recently.
This program aims at keeping educators updated with the latest technological advancements in IoT, enhancing the curriculum, and developing practical skills. It facilitates research opportunities, promotes industry collaboration, and introduces innovative teaching methods.
By participating in such programs, faculty members can grow professionally and better prepare students for careers in the rapidly evolving field of IoT.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with the welcome address by Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Coordinator – ATAL FDP, whose meticulous planning and organizing led to the smooth conduct of the Faculty Development Program.
The Faculty Development Programme was inaugurated with a presidential address delivered by Dr. Nalla G Palaniswamy, Chairman, DrNGPRET and Dr. Thavamani D Palaniswamy, Secretary, Dr. N.G.P. Educational Institutions followed by the Inaugural address delivered by Dr. Rajesh P. Barnwal, Principal Scientist & Head of IT, AI & IoT Lab, Information Technology Group CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur West Bengal.
The felicitation was delivered by Dr. K. Ramamurthi Principal and Dr. S. Saravanan, Vice Principal, Dr. N.G.P. Arts and Science College, who emphasized the significance of continuous professional development for educators.
This was followed by a special address by Dr. F. Mary Magdalene Jane, Dean-Computer Science and Dr. K. Kalimuthu, Dean–Research & Development of Dr.N.G.P. Arts and Science College, adding a formal and encouraging note to the proceedings.
The first day featured two impactful sessions. The first session was led by Dr. Rajesh P. Barnwal, and focused on the theme “Introduction to Internet of Things” where he discussed the foundational understanding of IoT concepts and insights for innovative teaching methods to better engage students in this rapidly evolving field of IoT together with new research opportunities.
The second session of the day was conducted by Dr. Koppala Guravaiah, Assistant Professor Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam, Kerala, who delved into “IoT Architecture, protocols and embedded device for real-world problems”
Dr. Guravaiah equipped faculty with in-depth knowledge of IoT architecture and protocols, along with practical skills in working with embedded devices. He enhanced the ability of faculties to teach and guide students in project-based learning.
Both sessions received positive feedback from the participants, significantly impacting their perspectives on teaching and technical development.
The program promises to continue delivering high-value content throughout the week, contributing to the technical growth of the faculty members, research scholars & PG students.
