The Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology and the Department of Clinical Nutrition at Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital jointly celebrated World Breastfeeding Week recently.
As part of the observance, the hospital organised a series of week-long events aimed at promoting the importance of breastfeeding for mothers and infants.
The programme featured a poster competition for nurses and students, showcasing creative messages on nurturing and supporting breastfeeding mothers. Awareness sessions were also conducted for nursing staff and parents, offering practical guidance on breastfeeding techniques, addressing common challenges, and highlighting the long-term health benefits for both mothers and children.
The highlight of the celebration was a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session attended by pediatricians, obstetricians, and nutrition experts. The discussions focused on evidence-based breastfeeding practices, maternal nutrition, and creating a supportive environment for new mothers. The CME was inaugurated by Dr. K. Madeswaran, Chairman and Managing Director of Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital, along with Kala Madeswaran.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K. Madeswaran said, “This celebration reinforces our commitment to maternal and child health, highlighting that breastfeeding is a shared responsibility and the foundation for healthier futures.”
