Coimbatore Corporation is in plans to set up at Waste to Energy Plant inside Vellalore Dumpyard. The locals and activists from the region have region have firmly opposed this project since it was first mooted by the previous DMK-led State government.
To take a firm stance against this project, VellaloreTown Panchayat conducted an urgent meeting on Tuesday. It was presided over by the Town Panchayat’s President V.U.Marudhachalam. At the meeting the matter was tabled before all the panchayat ward members, and a resolution was passed stating that the WTE Plant should not be installed inside the plant.
