The Department of Mental Health Nursing, KMCH College of Nursing, in association with the Inner Wheel Club of Coimbatore North, recently conducted an awareness programme observing the International Day Against Drug Abuse at Corporation Middle School in Ramakrishnapuram, Ganapathy.
The programme aimed to create awareness among school children about mental health and the dangers of drug abuse.
Anantha Kumar, Principal of the Corporation Middle School, welcomed the gathering and presided over the function. Madhavi, Principal of KMCH College of Nursing, delivered the presidential address and emphasised the importance of mental health among school children.

Mahalakshmi Ramanathan, President of the Inner Wheel Club of Coimbatore North, along with her team, participated in the programme and encouraged the students to prioritise their mental well-being and stay away from substance abuse.
As part of the programme, VI Semester B.Sc. Nursing students presented a role play highlighting the importance of mental health. They also performed a Villupaattu (folk art form) to create awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Around 150 students from Classes VI to VIII participated in the programme. The interactive session enabled students to clarify their doubts and gain a better understanding of mental health and drug abuse prevention.
