Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS), in association with ICT Academy, organised a Power Seminar on “Protecting Ideas and Powering Startups” recently for first-year MBA students.

The seminar aimed to sensitise students to the importance of innovation, entrepreneurship, and the need to safeguard original ideas in today’s competitive business environment.

Valarmathi, Principal and CEO, delivered the Presidential Address, where she emphasised that students should act swiftly on their ideas rather than overthink and delay execution.

She highlighted that while creativity and initiative are essential, protecting ideas through Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) is equally important to ensure ownership and long- term benefits.

The resource person, Manjari Anandan, Co-founder and Blockchain Consultant, stressed that knowledge of IPR is crucial for MBA graduates aspiring to become entrepreneurs or business consultants.

She explained that protecting ideas enhances investor confidence and improves funding prospects. She also advised students to conduct proper research, register their ideas legally, and follow a systematic approach to business execution, warning that failure to secure IPR can lead to loss of business opportunities.
