The Women Doctors’ Wing of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Coimbatore Branch, recently organised Women’s Day celebrations.
Vanathi Srinivasan, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Coimbatore South constituency, and Dr. Karthik Prabhu, Immediate Past State Secretary of IMA Tamil Nadu, were the special guests.
Dr. Koshal Ram, President of the IMA Coimbatore Chapter, delivered the welcome address and spoke about the significant role played by women doctors in the association. Dr. Parameswaran, Secretary of the IMA Coimbatore Chapter, provided an overview of the association’s activities.
Dr. Anusha, Chairperson of the IMA Coimbatore Women Doctors’ Wing, presented a report detailing the wing’s operations and social service initiatives.
Awards were presented to honour 67 prominent women, including medical professionals, entrepreneurs, and individuals excelling in public service, for their outstanding achievements.
Concluding the programme, Dr. Harini, Secretary of the Women Doctors’ Wing, delivered the vote of thanks. Balamurugan, Treasurer of the IMA Coimbatore Chapter, and several other dignitaries participated in the programme.

Speaking at the event, Vanathi Srinivasan stressed the need for women to take care of their health. She highlighted various welfare schemes being implemented by the Union Government for the advancement of women’s health and commended initiatives related to awareness and preventive screening.
