The School of Computer Science of VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science organised a two-day international conference on “Global Perspectives on Sustainable Computing and Intelligent Innovations” recently.

The conference was inaugurated by Balagurusamy, former Vice-Chancellor of Anna University.

Jaishree Suryakumar, CEO and Secretary of the VLBJ Institutions, in her special address, emphasised the importance of fostering innovation-driven education and encouraged students to embrace sustainable technologies to address global challenges.

She highlighted the institution’s commitment to nurturing young minds through research-oriented learning, industry collaboration, and holistic development.

In his inaugural address, Balagurusamy underscored the significance of sustainable computing practices and the vital role of innovation in building a technologically advanced and environmentally responsible future.

The inaugural session was presided over by Brindha, Director of Academics and Research, and Kalaivani, Principal of the college, who reiterated the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and research-driven initiatives.

The first day of the conference witnessed the participation of eminent academicians and industry experts.

The technical sessions featured Sivaraman Easwaran from Curtin University, Malaysia; Arunkumar Thangavelu from VIT University, Vellore; Prakash from SAP Fioneer, Bengaluru; and Jayasurya Gnanavel, CEO and Founder of Cybernaut, who shared their insights on emerging trends in computing and intelligent technologies.

A panel discussion on “Intelligent Innovations for a Sustainable Global South” was conducted, with Imrankhan, HR Business Partner at Blue Yonder, Coimbatore, offering valuable industry perspectives.

Further technical sessions were delivered by Awodele Oludele, Professor and Dean at Babcock University, Nigeria, and Vasanth, Security Engineer and Penetration Tester from Bengaluru, who addressed contemporary challenges and advancements in computing and cybersecurity.

The technical chairpersons, Meera, Head of the Department of Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) at PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, and Ranjit Jeba Thangaiah, Head of the Division of Digital Sciences at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, coordinated the review process, evaluated research papers, and ensured the quality and relevance of the technical sessions.

The conference received around 200 research papers, and nearly 1,500 students from various institutions participated, making it a vibrant platform for learning and interaction.
