Indian houses and hotels have started feeling the impact of the war in Middle East through the shortage in LPG cylinder supply for almost 4 days now.
Leading restaurant chains in Coimbatore such as Sree Annapoorna, HariBhavanam, Shree Anandhaas (Restaurants & Bakery), Covai Anganan, Sree Aksshayam and many others started rolling out measures from March 10th .
Balachandar Raju, MD, HariBhavanam Restaurants and the Secretary of Coimbatore District Hoteliers Association said the hotels and restaurants in Coimbatore are trying their best to serve customers during these challenging times.
Most restaurants now serve dishes that move fast among customers. Dishes that involve less LPG usage are also given priority. Those who have space and option to go for firewood-backed cooking in their establishments have done that.
“We at Haribhavanam have our central kitchen in Goldwins and have opted firewood as fuel for cooking now. We normally prepare close to 400 dishes but now we have limited it to just 40. We are functioning on essential/peak hours such as 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and then from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.,” he remarked.
“As far as major restaurants in Coimbatore are concerned, reduction in menu and operation hours have become the standard practice to navigate this unexpected scenario.
The government officials have said that the situation will solve soon, and they are taking steps to solve the issue. We are hopeful and we pray that the war ends soon for the good of everyone,” he added.
