Tamilnadu Caterers Association’s President R.Nagaraj told reporters that if the supply of commercial LPG cylinders continue to remain affected, weddings happening from April 1st onwards may even get stalled.
Nagaraj addressed the press and media about the issues faced by the members of the catering fraternity due to the ongoing LPG supply shortage. He said that they have taken wedding and other orders from customers and are in a very challenging situation to fulfil the commitment.
“When enquired with dealers, they said that they have no stock, the production is also low and they are yet to receive the cylinders from the yard. We have appealed to our customers to drop certain dishes from the menu they want us to make as the wedding halls too lack adequate cylinders,” he said.
While the caterers have expressed they can provide dishes that could be made using stoves running on firewood as fuel, they have expressed that they can only manage the situation till the end of March.
“We used to make 80% dishes via LPG and 20% via firewood stoves, whereas now the scenario has changed upside-down. We urge the govt to speak with the oil companies and increase LPG production,” Nagaraj said.
“Should the scenario remain the same till March 31, weddings planned from April 1 may be stalled,” he cautioned.
