Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC) organised a Panel Discussion on “Opportunities for Funding from Government Agencies –Embracing Emerging Technologies: Unlocking Opportunities and Addressing Challenges in the Manufacturing Sector” on Friday at the COSIEMA Hall, Coimbatore.

The event was conducted as part of the International Conference on Materials and Processing for Sustainable Development – Empowering the Future with Smart Technologies (MPSD-EFT 2026).

The panel discussion was jointly organised by the College in association with the Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC), Nagpur, COSIEMA, and SIDBI under PROMO initiatives.

The programme witnessed participation from academicians, researchers, industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and members of COSIEMA.

Soundarrajan, Principal of the college, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the importance of academia–industry collaboration and the need for awareness on government funding schemes to support innovation and sustainable manufacturing practices.

Mathivanan, President, COSIEMA, welcomed the gathering and emphasized the role of industry associations in facilitating technology-driven growth.

The panel comprised eminent experts including Krishna Kanth Pulicherla, Member Secretary, Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi; Santhanam, Scientist ‘F’, DRDS, DRDO, Hyderabad; Krishnamoorthy, Managing Director, KGK Industries and United Enterprises; Nagarajan, Managing Director, Best Heat Treatment, Coimbatore; Krishnamoorthi, Head, Department of Metallurgical Engineering, PSG College of Technology; and Vignesh, Technology Commercialization Officer, DST-TEC, Anna University, Chennai.

The experts deliberated on funding opportunities from various government agencies, mechanisms for technology translation, industry-oriented research, and strategies to overcome challenges in adopting emerging technologies in the manufacturing sector.

The discussion provided valuable insights on proposal preparation, industry–academia partnerships, and commercialisation of research outcomes.

The session was moderated by the COSIEMA team, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Bhagyanathan, Associate Dean (R&D) and Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering of the college, who emphasised the significance of such interactive forums in strengthening innovation ecosystems and fostering sustainable industrial development.
