The School of Communication at Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science (Autonomous) organised Focus and Frames 2026 and ArtBeat, a dynamic media, filmmaking and photography event, on Friday at the college campus.
The event celebrated creativity, visual storytelling and cinematic excellence, and featured short film, photography and ArtBeat contests.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Semmalar Annam, actress and director of the film Mayila, which was screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, as the chief guest.
Naveen, a Star Vijay artist, was the chief guest for the morning session of the short film contest.
The event was presided over by Padmanaban, Managing Trustee of GRD Institutions, and felicitated by Geetha Padmanaban, Joint Managing Trustee.
Santha, Principal, and Sasikala, Head of the Department, School of Communication, were also present.
The short film contest held in the morning was evaluated by Shankarraja, cinematographer, while the photography contest in the afternoon was judged by Chandini Sarcar, photographer, along with Gokul Krishna, Director of Photography.
