Women Empowerment Cell at Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS) hosted an Expert Talk on “Empowered to Lead” on 28th August 2025.
The talk aims to empower students, particularly women, to take on leadership roles and make a positive impact in their respective fields.
Valarmathi, Director, delivered the Presidential address. She emphasised the importance of empowerment in creating leaders who possess not only knowledge and skills but also empathy. She encouraged students to develop their leadership qualities by acquiring knowledge, honing their skills, and cultivating empathy.
The resource person for the session was Sri Gowri Kumar, Assistant Manager HR, Point Perfect Technology Solutions (PPTS) India. The empowerment session was an interactive and engaging experience for the students.
To reinforce the concepts, Gowri assigned an exercise where students were asked to prepare a solution chart for a given situation. She then walked them through the essential steps of pre-planning, approval, execution, allocation, and team coordination, emphasising the distinction between being busy and being productive.
She offered practical guidance on developing strong communication and interpersonal skills, which are vital for personal and professional growth. She also provided valuable tips on crafting resumes and navigating the interview process, equipping students with the tools they need to succeed in their future endeavours.
The Expert Talk provided a platform for students to interact with Sri Gowri Kumar and gain valuable knowledge and insights on leadership and empowerment.
The event was well-received by the students, who appreciated the opportunity to learn from a seasoned industry professional. The VIMS Women Empowerment Cell’s efforts to organise such events underscore the institute’s commitment to promoting women’s empowerment and leadership development among its students.
