In a landmark moment for global Earth science research, NASA and ISRO are set to launch their first joint Earth observation satellite, NISAR (NASA–ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar), on July 30, 2025, at 5.40 PM from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

The collaborative satellite is the world’s most expensive Earth-observing radar satellite, with an estimated cost of $1.5 billion, which marks a significant milestone in US–India space cooperation.

The satellite will orbit the Earth once every 12 days and provide real-time, high-resolution data on critical Earth systems, including land use, natural hazards, and climate dynamics.
