The press conference was followed by an event titled “Chennai Port’s Trade Meet 2025 – Coimbatore: Uniting Hinterland Strength to Port Excellence.” Pavankumar Giriyappanavar, District Collector of Coimbatore, graced the occasion with his presence.

The trade meet focused on strengthening logistics partnerships and aligning infrastructure capabilities to support the export-driven industrial clusters of Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Pollachi, and the Nilgiris, collectively recognised as one of India’s most vibrant hinterland trade zones.

The primary objectives of the trade meet were to showcase the capabilities of Chennai Port and Kamarajar Port in facilitating exports from the western region of Tamil Nadu, and to gain a deeper understanding of the logistics needs, challenges, and expectations of the trade community in this region.

This initiative is part of the ports’ broader strategy to enhance port-hinterland integration and improve overall trade facilitation.

The trade meet saw enthusiastic participation from several prominent trade and industry bodies across the region, including the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association, Pollachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nilgiris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Southern India Mills’ Association, National Coir Federation of India, Southern India Engineering Manufacturers’ Association, and the Coimbatore Custom House Agents Association.

In addition to these, a large number of MSME clusters, exporters, logistics providers, and industrial associations from Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Pollachi, and Salem were also represented at the event.

The trade meet was enriched by the presence of several distinguished speakers and senior officials who brought valuable insights from the fields of government, port operations, customs, and trade facilitation.
