Informa Markets, India’s leading B2B exhibitions organizer, today (3rd April 2025) hosted a Round Table discussion on ‘Unlocking the Potential for Renewable Energy in India & Tamil Nadu’.
This Round Table marks the countdown to the 9th Edition of South India’s Premium Sourcing Fair to be held in Chennai from 23rd to 25th April, 2025, at the Chennai Trade Centre (New building), Nandambakkam, Chennai.
To be noted, the event will take place in Chennai after eight successful editions in Hyderabad.
The Round Table began with the welcome speech by Rajneesh Khattar, Senior Group Director, Energy and Construction portfolio, Informa Markets India.
The esteemed dignitaries at the event were, Chellappan, Managing Director, Swelect Energy Systems Limited; Sathish Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director, Milky Mist Dairy Food Pvt Ltd.; Ashok, President, Tamil Nadu Solar Energy Developers Association; Pradeep, President, Tamil Nadu Electricity Consumer’s Association (TECA) and Raguram Arjunan, President, Sustainability and Energy Practitioners Association.
Representatives from leading renewable energy companies were also present.
Rajneesh Khattar highlighted the immense potential of India’s renewable energy sector, with a special focus on Tamil Nadu. He introduced RenewX 2025—South India’s Premier RE Sourcing Fair, themed “Driving Renewable Energy Potential, Celebrating South India’s Legacy of Excellence.”
While introducing RenewX 2025, Khattar said the fair is set to welcome 8,000+ trade visitors, 50 distinguished speakers, and 150+ leading brands, reinforcing its stature as the region’s foremost RE platform. “Tamil Nadu, with a 16% share of India’s factories and a thriving industrial ecosystem, is a natural choice for hosting the event, given its leadership in renewable energy adoption,” he added.
Moreover, he also stated that the Media Roundtable in Coimbatore serves as a pivotal Curtain Raiser. “With renewables poised to contribute 50% of Tamil Nadu’s energy basket, the timing of RenewX 2025 couldn’t be more strategic,” he noted.
He also mentioned that the attendees can look forward to a power-packed exhibit floor, insightful conference deliberations, and concurrent conclaves and panel discussions—all designed to support industry players and foster new collaborations. “The event is proudly backed by leading sector associations and trade bodies from Tamil Nadu and Kerala,” said Rajneesh Khattar.
Chellappan shared his remarkable insights on solar.

Raguram Arjunan, in his address, noted on the Challenges and Scope of Rooftop Solar with BESS for Tamil Nadu’s Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sector and the potential for rooftop solar adoption and how it helps to reduce operational costs.
He also mentioned the lack of awareness about the PM’s Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana scheme and further said that the Government of India should take immediate action to instruct the approved banks to come forward and simplify the approval process for a speedy loan disbursement.
