The Department of English at Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, organised a drama workshop titled “The Sound and The Fury: Depicting Blood, Betrayal and the Bard” at Ashoka Hall on 16th September 2025.
Sumathi, Assistant Professor of English at Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The program was patronised by Ponnusamy, principal, and convened by Priya Sharon Thomas, head of the department.
During the workshop, seven dramatic tragedy scenes from the works of William Shakespeare, including Macbeth, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Antony and Cleopatra, The Merchant of Venice, and other iconic plays, were enacted. Themes of betrayal, power, vengeance, love, and human frailty came alive on stage.

Students from various colleges and schools across Coimbatore attended the workshop.
The program concluded with words of encouragement from the chief guest, who emphasised the importance of theatre as a medium of expression and critical inquiry.
Priya Sharon Thomas extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and students who contributed to the success of the workshop.
