Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies, Coimbatore, organised an Expert Meet for the first-year MBA students on 4th February 2026 to provide practical insights into career planning from an industry perspective.
Somasundaram, Senior Manager – HR & EHS, Aquasub Engineering, Coimbatore, served as the Resource Person and delivered an insightful session titled “Designing a Career: An HR Perspective.”
Kalaivani, Faculty In-Charge of the HR Club, addressed the gathering and emphasised that career choice is one of the most significant decisions in an individual’s life, as it shapes long-term learning, professional experiences, and personal growth.
She highlighted the pivotal role of Human Resource professionals in organisations, stating that HR plays a critical role in identifying, developing, and nurturing talent while creating opportunities to effectively utilise the potential of every employee.
During his interaction with the students, Somasundaram stressed that passion for one’s profession significantly reduces work-related stress and enhances job satisfaction.
He explained that HR professionals play a vital role in guiding and supporting employees in their career development.
By engaging with people across levels, HR professionals influence mindsets and help individuals align themselves with positive, growth-oriented career paths.
He further noted that in the contemporary business environment, HR professionals must adopt a proactive approach, particularly in the area of Industrial Relations, to maintain organisational harmony.
He concluded by highlighting that senior HR professionals often occupy key leadership positions in organisations, underlining the strategic importance of HR in organisational success.
