The Coimbatore District Administration, Coimbatore City Police, and Uyir Foundation recently launched the ‘Coimbatore Model Road Safety City’ project to promote road safety awareness, aiming to make Coimbatore an accident-free city.
As part of Uyir’s contribution for the financial year 2024-2025, Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Chairman of Uyir Foundation, along with Dr. Rajasekharan, Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics, Trauma & Spine Surgery, Ganga Hospital, and other trustees, donated a cheque for Rs. 75 lahks to Kranthi Kumar Pati, Coimbatore District Collector, recently.
The Uyir Foundation has proposed and submitted this project to M.K. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. A total allocation of Rs. 5.00 crore has been designated for this initiative, with Rs. 3.50 crore provided by the Government of Tamil Nadu and over Rs. 1.50 crore contributed by the foundation.
The project fund of Rs. 5.00 crore will be utilized over two financial years: 2024-2025 and 2025-2026. This Model Road Safety City Project aims to document the transformation of Coimbatore into a Model Road Safety City in Tamil Nadu.
