Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS) recently hosted a Mental Health Awareness Program titled “The Key to a Balanced Life” on 20th August 2025.
The event was organised by the VIMS Community Service Club, aimed at promoting mental well-being and resilience among students.
Valarmathi, Director, VIMS, welcomed the gathering and emphasised the importance of maintaining a balanced life by nurturing four key aspects: Body, Mind, Heart, and Spirit.
She encouraged students to prioritise their physical and mental health through healthy food choices and regular exercise, while also pursuing activities that bring them satisfaction and joy.
The resource person for the session, Dr. Shree Aarthi, Consultant Psychiatrist at VGM Hospital, delivered an insightful presentation on empowering the inner self.
Key topics covered included
Building Resilience and Confidence: Strategies for developing emotional intelligence and coping with challenges.
Relationship Clarity: Understanding dynamics, setting boundaries, and fostering healthy connections.
Self-Worth and Negative Patterns: Recognising self-value, overcoming self-doubt, and breaking free from toxic patterns.
Human Connection and Learning: Embracing the importance of relationships, empathy, and continuous learning.
Dr. Aarthi also discussed modern relationship dynamics, shedding light on terms such as Breadcrumbing, Ghosting, Orbiting, Zombieing, Textationship, and Love Bombing.
The program provided a safe space for students to engage in open discussions, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into maintaining their mental well-being.
By promoting mental health awareness, VIMS aims to create a supportive community that encourages students to prioritise their emotional and psychological health.
