Taiwan Nonwoven Fabrics Industry Association (TNFIA), a business delegation is in India from 27–31 March 2026, as part of the Tamil Nadu–Taiwan Technical Textile Partnership Summit.
As part of the engagement, CII Tamil Nadu State Textile Panel organised exclusive B2B meetings with the objective of exploring joint ventures and technical collaborations between the TNFIA delegation and leading industry stakeholders from Tamil Nadu, facilitating direct interactions, partnership discussions and opportunities for collaboration in the nonwoven, automotive and non-leather footwear sectors.
Gopikumar, Convenor, CII Tamil Nadu Textile Panel, highlighted that Tamil Nadu already holds a dominant position in both the automotive and leather sectors, accounting for 35–40% of India’s footwear manufacturing and nearly 45% of the country’s footwear exports.

He noted that the current leather-to-non-leather footwear ratio stands at 90:10; however, with global demand steadily shifting towards non-leather footwear, this segment presents a significant growth opportunity for the state.
The primary objective of the Taiwan delegation was to explore opportunities in the automotive and non-leather footwear sectors and to assess the potential for establishing a complete value chain ecosystem in Tamil Nadu from fibre to nonwoven materials and finished components.
The delegation, comprising leading manufacturers of nonwoven fabrics and technical textiles, expressed strong interest in setting up manufacturing facilities in India through joint ventures and collaborations with Indian partners, recognising the growing potential of the Indian footwear market.
The delegation included companies such as Shinih Enterprise, Taiwan Kureha, Nu Cotton International, Hsinnjy Industrial, Zhejiang Boretch Environmental Engineering, and Always Champion Enterprise, which specialise in automotive semi-finished products, recycled fibres and yarns, nonwoven materials, footwear reinforcement, circular economy solutions, and bi-component fibre technology.

This engagement marks a significant step towards strengthening Tamil Nadu’s position in the global value chain. While the state is already a leader in automotive and leather manufacturing, it is now rapidly emerging in the non-leather footwear segment.
Taiwan, being a pioneer in nonwoven and technical textile manufacturing, brings advanced technology and expertise, creating a strong foundation for collaboration. This partnership is expected to accelerate the development of a robust nonwoven ecosystem in Tamil Nadu, enhance value addition, boost exports and significantly increase the state’s share in the global non-leather footwear market.
More than 60 industries participated in the B2B Meetings and 200 + Buyer Seller meetings
