The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research (PSG iTech), in collaboration with SanDisk Corporation, recently organised the PSG iTech–SanDisk Hackathon.
The two-day event saw participation from 374 students across 87 teams, of which 50 teams were shortlisted through an online screening process. The selected teams worked intensively to develop prototypes, competing for a total prize pool of Rs.1.5 lakh.
The hackathon was inaugurated by Venkatesh Duraisamy and Sundar PH, Directors at SanDisk, along with Lokesh Sarode and Panneerselvam Palaniswamy, technologists from the company. They shared insights with participants, setting the stage for two days of collaboration and innovation.

An afternoon session featured a tech talk by Panneerselvam Palaniswamy on the impact of artificial intelligence and its practical applications in the industry, helping students prepare for their presentations.
The final day included presentation rounds evaluated by a jury comprising six academicians and eight industry experts from SanDisk.
The valedictory session began with a welcome address by Gomathy, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, followed by a presidential address by Vijaya Kumar, Dean – Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Venkatesh Duraisamy delivered the valedictory address, highlighting the vision behind the collaboration and the potential of young innovators.
A special jury award was presented to two teams — The Learning Loop from PSG iTech and REARCH from PSG College of Technology — for their research and performance.

Among the winners, team Code Crew from PSG iTech secured the first prize and won Rs.75,000. Team Titan Edge from PSG iTech was the first runner-up, receiving Rs.50,000, while team VerifyX from PSG iTech secured the second runner-up position with a prize of Rs.25,000.
