Orumai Payanam, a key event of Coimbatore Vizha, was organised on 14 November 2025 and has been a part of every edition of the festival.
Nearly 120 students, along with 17 teachers and staff from 24 educational institutions, visited five places of worship representing different religions, all located within a 1.5 km radius in the city.
The journey began in the morning from Arul Migu Konniamman Temple, followed by visits to St. Michael’s Church, Athar Jamaath Masjid, Gurudwara Singh Sabha, and a Jain Temple.
The heads of the respective religious places welcomed the students and shared the teachings and values of their religions. The students had the opportunity to explore these places, which they do not usually get to visit in their day-to-day life.
The event concluded at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial in Podanur. Vijayaragavan, Head of the Youth Leadership Programme at Shanti Ashram, welcomed the students and participants.
Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, attended as the Chief Guest and congratulated the Coimbatore Vizha team for organising an event that helps students understand the values shared by all religions.
Vinu Aram, President of Shanti Ashram, along with Coimbatore Vizha representatives, were also present during the event. Student representatives from each school shared what they had learned during their visits. Following the testimonials, an interfaith prayer was held, in which all students participated.
