The National Service Scheme (NSS) units of Dr. NGP Arts and Science College participated as volunteers in the Republic Day Parade held at Marina, Chennai on 26th January 2026.
This prestigious national event provided a remarkable platform for students to demonstrate discipline, leadership, patriotism, and commitment to service.
KavyaSri, an NSS volunteer from the college, was selected as the Girls’ Contingent Commander for the State Republic Day Parade 2026. Being chosen as a commander is a great honour and reflects her exceptional leadership qualities, physical endurance, sense of responsibility, and unwavering dedication to the values upheld by the National Service Scheme.
As the commander, she efficiently led the contingent, ensuring coordination, discipline, and precision throughout the parade. Her role symbolised the confidence placed in youth leadership and highlighted the ability of NSS volunteers to assume positions of national importance, the college stated.
In addition, Gokul Raj, an NSS volunteer of the college, proudly participated in the State Republic Day Parade as part of the NSS boys’ contingent. His participation signifies his commitment to national service and active involvement in programmes that promote unity, integrity, and civic responsibility.
Marching in the Republic Day Parade is a moment of honour for any student, as it represents dedication, rigorous training, and a strong sense of patriotism, the college noted.
The college added that the participation of KavyaSri and Gokul Raj in the Republic Day Parade has brought great recognition to the NSS units and the institution. Their achievement serves as a source of inspiration to fellow students, motivating them to actively engage in NSS activities and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

This accomplishment reflects the continuous efforts of the college in nurturing socially responsible, disciplined, and service-oriented citizens.
The Management, Principal, NSS Programme Officers, and staff members congratulated both volunteers for their outstanding performance and for upholding the motto of NSS, “Not Me, But You,” with pride and honour on a national platform.
