The Department of Hospital Administration at Dr NGP Arts and Science College organized 11 th Dr. Purani Endowment Lecture on “Building a Culture of Safety in Hospitals: The Role of Healthcare Professionals”.
The session was organized to highlight the crucial role of healthcare professionals play in creating a safe, error-free environment that ensures optimal patient care and safety.
Uma, Head of the Department of Hospital Administration of the college delivered a welcome address. The Presidential address was delivered by Dr. Nalla G Palaniswami, Chairman and Managing Director of KMCH, along with Dr. Thavamani D Palaniswami, Secretary Dr. N.G.P. Arts and Science College.
The gathering was felicitated by Anantha Padmanathan, Director & CEO, Tenxhealth Technologies and Muthuswamy, Director of Academics, Dr. NGP Educational Institutions.
The Chief Guest Lallu Joseph, Secretary General CAHO, Quality Manager and Associate GS, CMC Vellore addressed the gathering on how a healthcare manager must be well-educated and adaptable, continuously learning to ensure patient safety and reduce medical errors.
She also discussed that fostering open communication and collaboration across all levels is crucial, particularly in hierarchical cultures. She also highlighted the significance of corrective and preventive actions that should be prioritized to address and avoid mistakes.
The lecture concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Suji, Assistant Professor, Department of Hospital Administration. Students of various disciplines like Bioscience, Commerce and Management participated in the program.
