KV Institute of Management and Information Studies, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized a guest lecture on ‘Remote Work: Managing Virtual Teams & Remote Collaboration’ on 8th March 2025.

The session aimed to provide students with insights into the evolving work environment, focusing on the challenges and opportunities of remote work, effective virtual team management, and collaboration strategies.

Srimathi, Corporate & Soft Skills Trainer and Director at Leading Lights, Coimbatore, delivered the lecture. With extensive experience in corporate training and soft skills development, she shared valuable insights on adapting to remote work.

The session was attended by MBA students and faculty members keen on understanding virtual collaboration.

She also discussed the evolution of remote work and how businesses have adapted, especially post-pandemic. She emphasized best practices for managing virtual teams, including leadership strategies, effective communication, and performance management. Srimathi introduced collaboration tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Asana, and Trello, demonstrating their role in seamless coordination.

The lecture also addressed key challenges in remote work, including time zone differences, lack of face-to-face interaction, and maintaining team engagement. Srimathi provided practical solutions, highlighting structured workflows, goal-oriented communication, and employee motivation strategies.

She also discussed future trends like hybrid work models, AI-driven collaboration, and workplace automation.

The interactive session saw active student participation, with engaging discussions, Q&A, and real-world case studies. Role-playing exercises and live demonstrations made the session practical and insightful. Students appreciated the hands-on approach, which connected theoretical concepts with corporate scenarios.

“The session received positive feedback, with many acknowledging the practical knowledge gained. The lecture successfully broadened students’ understanding of remote work dynamics, equipping them with essential skills for the digital workplace,” noted the organisers.
