The Centre of Excellence – Hybrid and Electric Vehicles Laboratory of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology has been awarded the IMI International Centre status by the Institute of the Motor Industry, UK recently.

This CoE holds the distinction of being the first laboratory in India to receive this accreditation.

It is noteworthy that this CoE, equipped with a computerized hybrid engine test rig coupled with an eddy current dynamometer, various hybrid and electric vehicle equipment with workstations, licensed software, a cross-sectional structure of the Audi Q5 vehicle, and various technologies, was inaugurated on May 20, 2024, at the cost of Rs 3.7 crore, designed to facilitate advanced research and practical learning.
