IIT Kharagpur, a top-ranking, premier public higher educational institution, serving as the National Coordination Centre for SPARC – Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration successfully hosted the First SPARC National Conclave at its premises on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Held at the IIT’s Research Park, the 2-day conclave brought together nearly 400 faculty members, researchers, and students from universities and research institutions across India, along with International collaborators and Academic leaders associated with SPARC-funded projects.

Coimbatore’s Kongunadu Arts and Science College is the only Arts and Science College in the Country which has been recognized as a SPARC Institution by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and one of its professors, K. Muthukumar from the Department of Tamil, was among the invited speakers of the conclave.

A press release from Kongunadu Arts and Science College mentioned that his talk was on his SPARC project, titled Socio-economic and health issues from dye pollutants – with special reference to Noyyal basin, where he explained the objectives and outcomes of his project.

“Being the Principal Investigator of this SPARC Project, he further shared his knowledge that he gained during his visit to University of Exeter, Teeside University and Harriotwatt University located in the United Kingdom as a part of his SPARC Project,” the release mentioned.

The two-day event was inaugurated by Armstrong Pame, Joint Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, in the presence of Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur,  Prof. Rabibrata Mukherjee, National Coordinator of SPARC, and Prof. Sudeshna Sarkar, Joint National Coordinator of SPARC.
