Commemorating 50 years of excellence in cardiac care, the Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital (GKNMH) organised the two-day Cardiology Golden Jubilee Conclave 2025 recently, at Radisson Blu.
Dr. Manjunath, a Member of Parliament and former Director of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, was the Chief Guest. Dr. Ragupathy Veluswamy, Chief Executive Officer of GKNMH, delivered the Presidential Address.
During the inauguration, Dr. Manjunath and Dr. Graham Hillis, Head of the Department of Cardiology at Royal Perth Hospital, Australia, were conferred with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award,’ presented by Dr. Ragupathy Veluswamy.
On the first day, a coffee table book celebrating 50 years of cardiac excellence was released, and the Heart Emergency Learning Program for the Community (HELP) was launched.
At the inauguration of the conclave, five eminent cardiologists were honoured with prestigious awards for their contributions to the field: Dr. Subramaniam received the ‘Distinguished Service Award in Cardiology’; Dr. Periasamy was conferred with the ‘Bhishmacharya Award for Lifetime Service in Cardiology’; Dr. Manoharan also received the ‘Distinguished Service Award in Cardiology’; Dr. Natarajan was presented with the ‘Dronacharya Award for Excellence in Cardiolog’y; and Dr. Vaithiyanathan was honoured with the ‘Yudhishthira Award for Ethical Practice’.
